The Republic of Korea (ROK) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on May 14, 1988 by 15 dynamic women in Seoul, South Korea. These women sought to make a difference in the local community through education, service, scholarship, and social action.
The ROK’s first official action was the Delta Extravaganza. During the past 36 years, members of the ROK Alumnae Chapter have continued to emulate the original 22 Founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority through the promotion of academic excellence, economic and educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement.
The ROK Alumnae Chapter embraces change and cultivates its mostly transient membership, given the many military members the chapter counts among its members. With over 50 members currently in its ranks, the chapter remains at the forefront of service by: creating opportunities for higher quality education through the provision of annual scholarships, hosting college informational fairs, hosting innovative youth development programs, framing social action platforms, and stimulating economic growth through its support to orphanages, homeless shelters and disadvantaged families.
Collectively, the officers and members of the ROK Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. tremendously value the unified commitment to public service and continue to strive for excellence.
